Welcome
Students in both fifth and sixth grades meet for a scheduled 35 minute computer/technology period once every six days. Supervised extra lab time for whole class or individual student use is also available. Students and staff can also utilize their classroom computers, as well as our mobile labs. At Evans City Middle School, as through the entire Seneca Valley School District, we try "…to use technology to the full extent of its capabilities throughout the curriculum…" During lesson planning, the classroom teacher works with the technology facilitator to integrate technology into, as well as revitalize, the existing curriculum. In fact, we emphasize that technology is a tool to help us locate and use information. Technology in Evans City Middle School means more than just computers. We also have laserdiscs, CD-ROM's, DVD's, digital cameras, digital video cameras, a scanner, mobile labs, a SmartBoard, and access to the internet. Much of our technology can be used in both the lab and classrooms.
To assist faculty and staff in using technology, we have many staff development opportunities, including courses offered for Act 48 credit and various "after-school" specials.
