All grade 1-6 students in both Evans City Elementary and Evans City Middle Schools participate in art classes in each six-day cycle. The team of art teachers encourages the students to explore a wide range of materials and processes, as well as, Art History, Art Criticism, and Art Theory (Aesthetics). The thinking skills of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation are stimulated by the variety of art projects presented.
The 6th grade students also have the opportunity to participate in a special art class called Media Experiences in Visual Arts Six (MEVAS). MEVAS gives participating students a chance to explore a variety of MEDIA in a studio atmosphere.
Each year, there is a large art show that takes place in the spring. All students in grades 1 - 6 exhibit one or more pieces of visual art. Clay, paper mache', drawing, painting, printmaking, jewelry, and fibers are some of the media that students exhibit.
