The long term goal for Seneca Valley Senior High Schol is to develop a working e-portfolio that students may present to colleges, universities, and employers. This document may contain test scores, grades, best work, resume, goals, etc. As a first step in this process, middle school counselors introduce students in the 7th grade to the Career Futures Program. One day is spent on High School where students can learn the vocabulary of post high schoo terms and education needs to obtain a cluster of employment possibilities. Students complete a 48 question inventory. They explory and write out descriptions of their top five career interest areas. Their last activity is to build a personal resume, thus establishing the first step in the portfolio. This information is saved on the server.
In the eighth grade students update their resume, review specific occupations, and log on to guidance centeral. They then are persuing careers under career zones and favorite subjects.
