Highlights

   
Reading team placed 3rd in the Greenville Reading Competition in November 2005 where 32 other teams were competing.
   
SVMS Student Council hosted the 2005 PASC District 2 Middle Level Leadership  Conference.
   
Student Council School service: Annual participation in raising funds for The Caring Foundation of Pennsylvania (8 years), Hoops for Hearts (American Heart Association) for 7 years, and Canned FoodDrive for local food cupboards (since 1971 annually).
   
Steve Emling awarded a full student council scholarship to a summer leadership workshop at Grove City College, 2005.
   
One of the first Middle Schools in the State to pilot Cognitive Tutor Math Program from Carnegie Mellon University.
   
One of the first Middle Schools in the State to pilot ASSET Science and recognized by Governor Rendell.
   
Mrs. Teresa Hune, Mrs. Sharon Bonavoglia, Mrs.  Kathy Watkins and Mr. Oiver Wiehe were awarded scholarships to attend the Pennsylvania Governor's Institute for Arts Educators, Summer 2002.
   
Mrs. Vrana, the Hawks' math teacher, received a Mac grant from McDonalds Restaurant for her math unit on Tetrahedrons, 2005.
