John Manders, an award winning children’s illustrator from Pittsburgh, visited CVE on Monday, May 5.  His incredible work has been exhibited at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh gallery, the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, and he was named Outstanding Illustrator/Author by the Pennsylvania School Librarian’s Association in May 2006.

Mr. Manders was dressed as a friendly pirate and gave four presentations to the students. Following his reading of the story “Henry and the Buccaneer Bunny”, this renowned illustrator from Pittsburgh demonstrated the technique of drawing and painting.  These four paintings were donated to the school, two of which were won in a raffle by Emily Keir and Ciara Hegadorn.  Congratulations!
