Aaron Wolf placed fifth in The Mid-America Oireachtas competition in Irish Dance. Each region in North America (Canada East, Canada West, Mid-America, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Southern, and Western) has their own Oireachtas (regional championship), and then the qualifiers from these regions (and other dancers from all over the world) go to the North American Nationals to dance. This competition was held in Chicago, Illinois the weekend after Thanksgiving. By placing fifth, he qualified for the North American National Irish Dance Championships, which will take place in Nashville over the 4th of July. Aaron dances on Saturday, July 5. Top finishers at this national competition will qualify for the World Competition to be held in the spring of 2009. This year's (2008) World Championship is being held in Ireland, and the 2009 World Championship will be in Philadelphia. |

Ray Hazenstab received his 2nd degree black belt from Shipton’s Martial Arts Academy in February 2008. Ray has been studying martial arts at Shipton’s Martial Arts Academy in Seven Fields since August 2005. Ray started in the Tiny Tiger program and progressively moved up into the Karate for Kids program. He plans on continuing his studies and would like to earn his 3rd degree black belt. Ray is currently in 3rd grade in Mrs. Schaefer’s. Congratulations Ray!! |

Mr. Bruno Zuccala, the Y.E.S.S. coordinator at CVE, has been named the corps director for the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps from Rosemont, Illinois. He recently served as the assistant director. Mr. Zuccala started as an instructor there in 1985 after marching with the General Richard Butler Vagabonds Drum and Bugle Corps from Lyndora, PA. Congratulations, Mr. Zuccala! |

Spencer Tretter, a fourth grader at CVE, qualified to swim at the eastern Zone Championships with a first or second place standing in five events for Allegheny Mountain Swim. He participated April 3-5th in Buffalo, New York swimming against top swimmers in the Eastern Zone of the United States. He medaled in the 50 fly and 100 free events and finished in the top or better in all of his other events. |
