Volleyball Tournament |
This 6th grade tournament was started in the 1997-1998 school year. The tradition continues at HMS every year. Every 6th grade classroom is represented by two teams. Each team plays 3 games in Round 1. As teams keep winning they advance to elimination rounds. When two teams remain the final play-off game is attended by the entire 6th grade! The winning team gets the opportunity to play the 6th grade teachers in a volleyball match! Sportsmanship, State Standards, District Wellness and Fitness Goals are all addressed with this event. Students sign and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct which outlines not only the game rules but appropriate behavior as a spectator, both off and on the court. Volleyball skills, Sportsmanship conduct, and team unity are primary skills that are addressed via this tournament. Classrooms get involved by cheering on both teams in their games, displaying signs, mascots, and banners, and even creating team shirts for all members to wear at game time. We would like to congratulate the Bahama Mammas for their tournament victory! The Pillsbury Doughboys did a great job getting to the volleyball finals!
