Getting Information
There's a lot going on in school, and it's our job to keep you up to date. The Counselors' Quarterly newsletter, mid-quarter referrals, progress reports, e-mail, and parent conferences are just a few of the ways we stay in touch. We also provide students with a copy of the Student Handbook as a helpful resource.
Placement and Scheduling
To meet the unique needs of every student, the guidance team works with teachers, parents, and each other to ensure the best education for every individual student. This ranges from gifted and special education testing to scheduling that addresses post-secondary education and long-term career plans. We offer classroom and evening presentations so that parents and students can make informed scheduling or career decisions.
Counseling Options
Working with the school psychologist and other mental health professionals, we can help your child in areas of intellectual, emotional, and social adjustment, if needed. In addition, we offer individual counseling, facilitated support groups, and mentoring opportunities based on individual need.
Testing
Throughout the school year the guidance department administers various tests and assessments which are designed to measure students’ ability, performance, and interests.
The PSAT, PLAN, TIMMS, and Performance Series are some of the tests students may take at the Intermediate High School level.
