2009 Summer School Program

Seneca Valley School District will offer summer school courses on line. A variety of high-school level credit courses will be available on line with the option of attending classes at the Intermediate High School, if needed.

All courses meet Seneca Valley graduation requirements. Students who have failed a course(s) have been advised by their counselor as to the outcomes of enrolling in the summer school program.

Students may also take TMP, Reading Strategies and Math Straties, and Health as enrichment courses with prior approval from the principal. Students who are attempting to recapture credit(s) will be given priority.

 

WHERE/WHEN Classes will be available on line and in the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School if needed. Students enrolling in the summer school program should be registered by June 3. Materials and forms will be mailed and are available through the guidance office.

Summer School is divided into two sessions:

Session 1 begins on June 15 and ends July 1

English and Science are available 8:00 - 11:00

Math and History are available 11:00 - 2:00

 

Session 2 begins on July 2 and ends July 17

Math and History are available 8:00 - 11:00

English and Science are available 11:00 - 2:00


WHATCourses in these areas are offered: Social Studies, English, Math, Science, Senior Project English, TMP (Technical Multimedia Presentation), Physical Education, Health, Reading and Math Strategies.

 

HOW MUCH one-credit course – $200.00
half-credit course -- $100.00
half-credit enrichment courses -- $200.00

***Non-district student rates are set at a doubled rate***

 

GUIDELINES Summer school students must abide by the rules of the online program, including time slots for completing work as shown above.
All students enrolled in the summer school program are subject to the rules and policies established for this program and the school district. A completed student contract and attendance at the orientation on July 7 are requirements for attending summer school.

GRADES All courses will be graded on a PASS/FAIL basis. There will be no letter grades or percentages used. (Exception: enrichment courses are issued a letter grade and percentage.) The appropriate credits will be awarded with a PASS grade. The failing grade earned for a course during the

school year which is being repeated remains on the student’s record.

Students from other school districts may request to utilize the online summer school. However, any student who did not attend school in the Seneca Valley School District should contact the assistant principal of the Intermediate High School at 724-452-6040, ext. 147.

SENECA VALLEY SUMMER SCHOOL IS OPERATED AS A
FINANCIALLY SELF-SUSTAINING PROGRAM.
