Mr. John Giancola
Principal
Mr. Giancola attended
Slippery Rock University, graduating in 1989. He began his teaching career
that same year, working with 7th and 8th grade students in the Armstrong
School District. Mr. Giancola taught a variety of grade levels during his
11 year teaching career, including grades kindergarten, 1, 5, 6, 7, 8,
9, 10 and community college students. While teaching, he earned a Master's
Degree with Reading Specialist Certification from Slippery Rock University,
and a second Master's Degree with a K-12 Principal's Certification from
Westminster College.
Mr. Giancola's first administrative
position was with the Woodland Hills School District. He has been with
the Seneca Valley School District since 2001. He is currently pursuing
doctoral studies at Duquesne University, and he will earn the Superintendent
Letter of Eligibility in June of 2008.
Mr. Giancola has a simple
goal for Rowan Elementary School: helping all students achieve to their
maximum potential in a nurturing, inclusive environment. "I am really fortunate
to be at Rowan", says Mr. G. "Our kids are polite, well mannered and studious.
Our staff is comprised of caring, gifted professionals. Lastly, our families
provide support for everything we do at the school."

Mrs. Nannette Farmar
Assistant Principal
Nannette Farmar joined
the Seneca Valley School District in October 2007 as Assistant Principal
of Rowan and CVE. Since 2001, Mrs. Farmar had served as the Reading and
Title I Coordinator for the Kiski Area School District in which her primary
responsibilities included development and implementation of the district's
reading, Title I and induction programs. Prior to her administrative role
with Kiski Area School District, she spent several rewarding years teaching
children at the kindergarten, second and fifth grade levels.
In 1993, Mrs. Farmar graduated
from the Pennsylvania State University where she received a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Kindergarten and Elementary Education. While teaching,
she earned a Master of Education Degree in Administrative and Policy Studies
from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to her kindergarten and
elementary teaching certificate, Mrs. Farmar has also obtained certification
as a reading specialist and elementary principal.
She is very excited about
joining the Seneca Valley School District and looks forward to collaboratively
working with students, parents, staff members and the community to create
memorable, rewarding and quality learning experiences for all children.
