Registration Instructions for 10th Grade Students entering 11th Grade
  1. Please refer to pages 4 and 5 in the program of studies for graduation requirements.  Along with the 24 required credits, students also need to complete all four components of the senior project and attain a score of Advanced or Proficient on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) exam.
  2. All required courses failed in 9th and/or 10th grade that have not been made up should be scheduled on the registration form (even if you are planning to attend summer school) in order to guarantee availability.
  3. If Technical Multimedia Presentation and Speech were not taken and passed in grades 9-10, they must be scheduled during the Junior year.
  4. Health is a requirement for all juniors. Transfer students who completed health in 9th and/or 10th grade have fulfilled this requirement and may schedule an elective in its place.
  5. Students must schedule a minimum of 7 credits but no more than 8 credits.  After selecting classes, please make sure that your credit total falls within this range.  If you want a daily study hall period, you can only schedule 7 credits.
  6. A lab science course requires 1.4 credits.  The theory portion requires a full year class period (1credit) along with an additional 2 day per week lab period (0.4 credits) opposite a 3 day per week study hall.
  7. Please be sure that you meet all prerequisites and/or co-requisites before selecting a course.  Also, some courses require an application or instructor permission before taking the class.  This should be completed before choosing the course.
  8. In the Program of Studies, the recommended sequences for the following subjects areas are:

    Math - pg. 22
    Science - pg. 30
    Soc. Stud. - pg. 34

  9. Refer to page 44 for a listing of Academically Advanced Courses that provide additional weight to the QPA formula.
  10. All students must obtain a course recommendation signature from their current English, Social Studies, Math, Science, and World Language teacher.
  11. Students requesting an Advanced Placement course must complete a separate AP application for every course they plan to take and obtain all necessary signatures. Attach the completed AP application(s) to the registration form and check “AP Requested” at the top of the form.
  12. The substitute course section found at the bottom of the registration form is to be filled in completely. Substitute courses must be different than the original requests and may be used if a scheduling conflict occurs.
  13. Special scheduling requests should be discussed with a Senior High counselor during your homeroom registration period.  This request needs to be indicated at the top of the registration form in the provided space.
  14. Students requesting a first-year Vo-Tech program should complete an 8 credit schedule at Seneca Valley Senior High School.  Write the Vo-Tech program name and course # at the top of the registration form (refer to pages 41 – 43 for course #'s) and indicate “new applicant” on the form.  A separate Vo-Tech application obtained from your guidance counselor must also be completed.  Second year Vo-Tech students should complete a 4 credit Seneca Valley Senior High School schedule, write the Vo-Tech program name and course # at the top of the registration form, and indicate “second year” on the registration form.
  15. You and your parent/guardian must sign and date the registration form. Please refer to the registration bulletin posted on your classroom bulletin boards to determine your scheduled day and period to report to the Senior High to turn in your completed registration form.
