• Essays must be typed, double spaced and approximately 300-500 words.
• Second person point of view is not to be used.

Do I have a broad introduction which narrows into a thesis statement. Is the thesis statement highlighted.

Do I have both topic and concluding statements in the body of the paragraph.

Did I fully answer the question with complete evidence to support by thesis?

Did I restate the thesis in the first sentence of the conclusion?

Did I use strong verbs and accurate diction?

Did I use sentence combining techniques?

Did I proofread for mechanical and grammatical errors.

 

 

Note: Most common errors are:

• Fragments and run on sentences
• Subject and pronoun do not agree
• Comma errors between compound sentences and after introductory clauses.
